Angela was my executive coach for four years. In this first installment on leadership, she has deftly woven her personal journey and experiences, peppered with the best supporting quotes from many like-minded thought leaders on the subject, into an readable reference. In doing so, the salient points are made succinctly and with impact. No fluff. Effective and efficient.

If you are at the top of the C-Suite, a rising star or a new manager, this book is a wonderful resource to begin your journey. If you are quite deft at leadership, you will still find thought provoking passages to help you improve.

Each chapter offers questions that allow us to “peer into our internal kaleidoscope”. The questions support Angela’s challenge to us - that we commit to doing the work of the Interflow daily. She challenges leaders to explore these fierce doubting questions in an effort to discover the intangible qualities of our inner self. The model of Interflow is easy to understand. Doing the work however requires us to spend the time examining our self, noticing the gap and doing the work to match intention to impact. Angela Cusack expertly guides us through that process.

“In a world where crisis looms large, the true peril lies in failing to perceive the uncharted territory within. Today's leaders face unprecedented challenges, demanding 'real leaders' who transcend our innate human flaws and propel us towards greatness. This book equips leaders with the essential tools to navigate the abyss, to bridge the gaps, and to transcend limitations with integrity. Angela Cusack, once my executive coach and a fellow junior league member, fearlessly invites us to 'Discover the Matrix.' Chapter six, 'The Intersection,' is my personal favorite, urging us to cast aside the waiting game of yesteryears and embrace the present, for ourselves, and for a brighter tomorrow." -Terri Broussard Williams, author, "Find Your Fire: Stories and Tools to Ignite the Changemaker in You."

It’s soooo fascinating how much of this resonates with me in terms of my work/field but also personal experiences and what I am actively working on in my own life while cutting across disciplines to executive coaching. People are people I guess is the bottom line, regardless of the context (I.e. “business world” vs. psychology, etc.)

I just finished reading the Matrix and found it thought provoking and very well written. I am a retired paralegal and as such I was not part of the management team at my firm. However, I was interested in what makes a good leader as I often felt that while our management team was full of really great people, I was not convinced they were great leaders. I too think there were things I should have done differently, but I lacked the courage to tackle the issues with management that I thought were important.

My daughter is in management with a large company and often shares issues she has with me. I mentioned your book to her and am sharing it with her as I think a lot of what you cover in your book would be beneficial to her.
